Fundación Puntacana has several sustainable agriculture programs that seek to care for the environment and support local communities. Some of them include:

Agroecology and Organic Agriculture

We promote farming practices that respect nature, such as crop rotation and the use of organic fertilizers. In this way, we grow products such as fruits and vegetables in a healthier way and without chemicals.

Hydroponics, Vertical Farming, and Aquaponics

We use innovative techniques to grow food without soil, taking advantage of nutrient solutions. We also combine aquaculture with hydroponics, creating a system in which fish waste serves as nutrients for plants, while plants filter and purify the water for the fish. These practices save space and water while reducing environmental impact.

Beekeeping

We work with beekeeping to produce organic honey. In addition to helping honey production, bees are essential for pollinating crops, which improves biodiversity and agricultural yields.

Vermiculture

We use worms to break down organic matter and create worm castings, which improves soil quality and promotes more ecological farming practices. In doing so, we reduce the need for chemical fertilizers and encourage a natural nutrient cycle.

Farmer’s Market

The Farmers Market is an initiative of Fundación Puntacana to encourage the consumption of local products and sustainably grown foods.
