• BEEKEEPING

In recent years, the news is increasingly alarming about the reduction of bee and insect populations. Bees play a very critical role in maintaining ecosystems providing pollination services to many plants. The reduction of bees has several causes: loss of habitat and forest, the use of insecticides and chemical products, climate change and the presence of invasive species.

  • Beginning 50 years ago, Ted Kheel and Frank Rainieri encouraged their employees to keep bees to earn additional income. Today that tradition continues through Grupo Puntacana Foundation, producing approximately more than 2,000 gallons of honey a year, royal jelly, bee pollen, and candle wax. There are more than 500 colonies of bees distributed throughout the Puntacana Resort & Club.

  • CHILDREN'S
    DIVERSITY CENTER

This center provides a space for the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of the primary disabilities affecting children in the nearby community of Veron including: down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and attention deficit.

  • For over ten years Grupo Puntacana Foundation has implemented the Zero Waste program to comprehensively manage solid waste. Puntacana Resort & Club residents and associated businesses are actively involved in our recycling program to help reduce the amount of waste going to landfills.

Environment

The Grupo Puntacana Foundation (FGPC) confronts diverse environmental challenges by developing innovative solutions implementing them in experimental projects. Its most successful initiatives have been expanded and replicated nationally and internationally.

“We try to provide concrete solutions to different environmental challenges, particularly in the tourism and development industry, and share those experiences with other sectors of society. Instead of telling companies and society what they can't do, we create examples of what they can and should try to do. We have worked with solid waste, coral reefs, endangered species, private ecological reserves and many other areas, providing innovative solutions that can inspire others to act ”. Jake Kheel, Vice President of the Fundación Grupo Puntacana.
